Relaxation Massage

A relaxing massage that is meant to soothe the muscles, diminish pain, remove waste products from cells, and increase blood circulation in muscles. Swedish massage, the most commonly practiced style of relaxation massage, uses a combination of five basic strokes: gliding, kneading, friction, vibration, and percussion.

A relaxation massage is beneficial for people who are feeling "stressed out, overwhelmed, depressed, or are having difficulty sleeping. Because massage results in the release of endorphins from the brain, relaxation massage can help alleviate symptoms associated with emotional and physiological disorders such as anxiety, depression, high blood pressure, and insomnia. This type of massage brings an overall feeling of well-being.

Sports Massage/Neuromuscular Re-Education

Sports massage is essential for athletes who run, swim, bike, play sports or perform any other physically demanding activities. This massage helps alleviate joint and muscle pain, decreases inflammation, helps with scar tissue, and improves flexibility, range of motion, and performance.

Neuromuscular Re-education focuses on repairing the damage caused by sports injuries. When an area of the body is injured, whether it's muscle, tendon, fascia, connective tissue, or a combination of all, the body's natural response is to inflame the area in order to prevent movement and allow for healing. The problem with inflammation is that it can cause adhesion which can restrict movement and decreases performance. Proper treatment and neuromuscular re-education can prevent a sports injury from getting out of hand.

Corrective/Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage focuses on a specific problem such as chronic pain, limited mobility, postural problems, repetitive strain injuries (carpal tunnel syndrome), recovery from injury, etc. These problems are often accompanied by adhesions (bands of rigid tissue) which are painful and limiting. Deep pressure and friction applied against the grain of the muscle are used to break down the adhesions and restore normal movement. Deep tissue massage has also been found to relieve pain associated with fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis.
